Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed some quality time with friends and family during the break! I know I did, but I am ready to get back into the classroom! My name is Jaime Hazlett and this is my 3rd year at Westphalia. I am proud to be a part of the Westphalia family! I have 13 years of experience working in a school system. I have over 6 years experience as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Eugene Field Elementary School. I have been a substitute teacher for the Ottawa School District, and worked for Garfield Elementary’ After School Program. I taught Preschool for 2 years as at Westminster Presbyterian Preschool before teaching 4th grade in Williamsburg.
I am passionate about teaching and feel so blessed to have a job I truly love with people who are as dedicated to the profession as I am! Westphalia students and parents are absolutely amazing! These combined make a great team!
Teaching a child is not just teaching the mind, the whole child must be nurtured. As an educator, my philosophy is to teach the child as a whole including socially, emotionally, as well as academically. If you were to step into my classroom you will see some students working independently, cooperation/peer learning, small group activities, and lots of discussions.
I am excited about the 2018-2019 School year and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Mrs. Jaime Hazlett
